REPORTS
OUR SOCIAL IMPACT REPORT (2021-2023)
Marr’s first Social Impact report covers the period from the launch of our first Social Impact Strategy & Roadmap in 2021 up until December 2023.
Key achievements outlined in the report include:
Health, Safety & Wellbeing:
- A steady improvement in injury performance in recent years;
- Recertification by BSI to internationally recognised standards for Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) and Quality management systems, ISO 45001 and ISO 9001;
- New global Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Operational Risk Management frameworks to enhance control of critical operational risks;
- A new approach to safety based on psychological safety and the completion of Marr’s first psychological risk survey and assessment.
Environmental Impact:
- No significant environmental incidents;
- Annual audit and benchmarking of current Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions – which identified that sourcing low carbon renewable fuels for our cranes would address 80 per cent of baseline emissions;
- Membership to the NSW Government’s Sustainability Advantage initiative;
- Participation in NSW Government Energy Savings Scheme with a 63.28% reduction in lighting energy consumption; and
- Waste management improvements and electric forklift trials.
Learning and Development:
Development of Marr’s Learning & Development (L&D) framework;
Benchmarking to establish a core competence model across the business;
The facilitation of employee exchanges to facilitate skills transfer and knowledge sharing between between Australian and the UK operations;
Participation in industry research with Torrens University & Western Sydney University study (2021).
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion:
- Identified strength in fostering a culturally & linguistically diverse (CALD) workplace with 37 per cent of our workforce being from a culturally & linguistically diverse background; and
- Completion of employee baseline data and benchmarking for future DEI markers.
Local Employment:
- Supply chain mapping exercise undertaken with the aim to understand the risks and opportunities in our supply chain; and
- Re-certification to UK Common Assessment Standard (CAS) – Constructionline Gold Standard.
